How COVID-19 Impacts Egg Donation
Whether you are looking to donate your eggs, or are recipients of donor eggs, PureOvum egg collective can provide you with the support needed throughout each step.
Backed by more than 30 years of collective experience by Southern California’s top fertility specialists, we proudly offer one of the most diverse, ready-to-cycle egg donor databases for intended parents.
Our all-female egg donor collective coupled with an all-female physician-driven fertility clinic has witnessed first-hand the turmoil intended parents have faced along their fertility journey. Add that to the COVID-19 pandemic, and overwhelmingly fear and uncertainty are upon us.
PureOvum has always focused on safety and quality, and during COVID-19, we maintain the same focus. Many patients have asked questions about how the coronavirus will impact your egg donation process. We have the answers.
What is Egg Donation?
The egg donation process in Southern California involves the selection of an egg donor by prospective parents from our database. Once we have a match between the two parties, the eggs are later retrieved from the egg donor and made available to the recipient for use with the treatment of in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Reasons You May Need an Egg Donation
Several factors lead patients to choose egg donation to have a child. These factors can include:
- A decrease in ovarian function due to age or disease
- Poor function can be due to premature menopause
- Repeated IVF failure
- Genetic conditions precluding a healthy pregnancy
- Male same-sex couples or single males who want to build a family
I want to become a parent through egg donation during COVID-19, how can this be accomplished?
Choosing an egg donor is an incredibly unique and personal choice — regardless of the current COVID-19 pandemic. We are here to help you find the perfect donor and move forward on your journey to parenthood.
If you previously selected an egg donor and you are unable to proceed with the process due to coronavirus or if the donor cannot fulfill the requirements, PureOvum will connect with you to identify and define a new course of action.
If you are just starting your journey, our PureOvum team will help you distinguish and select which of our egg donors is the right match for you. Once matched with an egg donor (medical and genetic screening completed; documents completed), your IVF clinic will coordinate cycle dates and details with your donor. You will be working directly with your IVF clinic throughout the donor’s cycle.
